Shell has a reception for the exhibition “ceramica World ” of Victoria & Albert World Museum

On the occasion of the global mobile exhibition “Ceramics world – a distinctive works of art from the Museum of Victoria and Albert,” the British Shell company set up a reception at company headquarters in London on 7/10/2008 .

 

The concert was attended by Dr. Hanan Kassab Hassan Secretary-General of the festival Damascus, capital of Arab culture in 2008, Dr. Sami Khiyami Syrian Ambassador in the United Kingdom, and Dr. Fawaz Akhras president of the British Syrian society , Mr. Mark Jones – Director-General of the Museum of Victoria and Albert, and a number of managers and staff of both companies Shell Global and Victoria and Albert Museum worldwide.

 
Mr. Miclestad Ola Director-General of Syria Shell Petroleum Development welcomed the attendees and reviewed in his opening address the importance of Damascus as the first inhabited city in the world, and the importance of Syrian humanitarian contributions in human history and humanity. And a commitment to social responsibility adopted by Shell in their work everywhere in the world, and desire to support the public celebration of Damascus, the capital of Arab culture for 2008 for the celebration of this important impact of the consolidation of cultural relations between Syria and the world, and in recognition of the contributions of Arab culture in the multi-civilizations, Shell Syria has to provide full support for the exhibition “World Ceramics Museum Victoria and Albert world.” “Mr Miclestad stressed the need to support culture as a prerequisite for the establishment of a joint dialogue between countries, and strengthen cooperation in all different areas.

 
Mr. Mark Jones – Director-General of the Museum of Victoria and Albert and Mr. Tim Stanley responsible for the art department for the Middle East, both talked on the importance of this acquisition, which is a review of the history of nations and civilizations, and the development of ceramics through the ancient times to the present day, the importance of this exhibition, which is touring Between Turkey,Syria and Abu Dhabi. They considered that the establishment of this exhibition in Damascus, is lighting important such collections to be presented for the first time in the capital of Arab culture for 2008 and about the importance of cooperation with the National Museum in Damascus for the consolidation of acquisitions and a variety of historical treasures.

 
As Dr. Sami Khiyami – Syrian Ambassador in the United Kingdom noted to the British-Syrian relations and the importance of the participation of the private sector in supporting cooperation among States both in terms of economic, commercial or cultural.

 
Dr. Hanan Kassab Hassan – Secretary-General of the festival Damascus, capital of Arab culture in 2008, emphasized the importance of historic Arab capital Damascus, reviewed the most important events included in this year’s celebration, and expressed thanks for Shell to support this large and important exhibition hosted by Damascus for the first time, and in particular within the commemorative activities and cooperation with the Museum of Victoria and Albert hoped to continue to cooperate with him to support and dissemination of culture globally.
