Eng. Sufian Allaw Minister of Oil in the meeting of the Government’s provide recent presentation of the results of his visit to Azerbaijan as head of the Syrian side in the meetings of the Joint Syrian-Azerbaijani committee.
Allaw stressed that this meeting was part of Syria’s policy in strengthening relations with Azerbaijan, which strengthened the President’s visit to Azerbaijan last year, 8 / 7 / 2009, which resulted in the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding in various areas, including the creation of a committee Syria Azerbaijani joint task of implementing the agreements and develop and expand the level of cooperation in other areas.

In the area of oil, Alaw said : Of course it is important especially in gas, I mean the import of gas, which was very welcomed and a willingness to meet the demand of the Syrian side for the supply of 1 – 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas annually via Turkey and expressed the Azerbaijani side is ready to deliver gas at the point of the Syrian border – Turkish and within the long-term agreement and at preferential prices reflect the specificity of the relationship between the two countries and the gas will be in Syria mid-2011 after the signing of contracts and completion of links between Syria and Turkey and this is what allows reliance on gas in other sectors than the gas is used currently in operation, this would strengthen relations and increase cooperation, which is reflected in both countries and noted the willingness of the two countries in the establishment of a joint businessmen council between the two countries enhance cooperation between the private sectors in both countries.
