GPC discussed results of 2009 plan and indicators of 2010 plan during 1st meeting of Board of Directors

General Petroleum Corporation held its 1st meeting of board of directors chaired by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Sufian Allaw in the presence of Deputy Minister, Dr. Hassan Zeinab, Chairman of the Board of Directors, his deputy and members of the board.

Allaw stressed the important role played by the GPCorporation, which constitutes 50% of the total workforce in the oil sector and expressed his ministry’s readiness to extend all support to the Board to do what is necessary to develop this strategic sector and vital to the national economy.

During the meeting a presentation was of the institution and the work has been completed and implemented to activate the work and functions of the Board according to the law / 2 / 2005 and the organization functions in accordance with Legislative Decree and the organizational structure of the institution with subsidiaries and departments of the organization and functions of each of them also discussed the results of 2009 Plan and 2010 Plan Indicators .

It is noteworthy that the Board of Directors consists of Geologist Jaber Algxil head of the Oil Marketing Chairman of the Board, Ali Abbas, general director of General Petroleum Corporation Vice Chairman, Members of Board are: Mr. Omar Hamad Director General of the Syrian Oil Company, Eng Namir Makhlouf, Director General of Syrian Company for Oil Transport, Eng. Hussein al-Waddaa General Manager Syrian Gas Company, Geologist Ahmed Khadr Ali, head of exploration and development of GPC and two representatives of the Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Alija Kange and Mr. Mohammed Fayez Barsheh.
