Discussion of environmental situation in Deir al-Zour and study the environmental impact resulting from the extraction of oil and gas in the province

He said there were a series of measures implemented by the Ministry of Oil and companies operating in a specific timetable to address the environmental impact resulting from the production process as well as to reduce any potential environmental damage that may result from the process of extracting and transporting oil through the adoption of the foundations of security and safety.
The oil minister added that the ministry has noticed in their contracts with foreign companies to provide annual grants to the province of Deir al-Zour to implement service projects in various fields to support the development process in the province and mitigation of the effects of the production of oil and gas fields near the city.
For his part, Mr. Hussain Arnous Governor of Deir al-Zour stressed on the need to adhere to global standards adopted in respect of rates the environmental effects of drilling and production operations of oil and gas noting the efforts of companies to replace old transmission lines, oil lines, new and more secure environment and ensure that any potential oil spill .
the meeting reviewed the actions undertaken by the SPC to avoid the oil pollution in the province and manifestations of the potential contamination of soil, water, air and damages resulting from the transfer of oil from the location of wells to the stations and to address oil spills from the wellhead.
managers of operating companies clarified the work of these companies to prevent pollution from the source before getting through recycling and the application of waste management facilities and gas gathering and sent to the gas plant to prevent heartburn and optimal use of resources and reduce waste.
committee, formed by members of the People Assembly to study the environmental impact resulting from the extraction of oil and gas in the province has proposed a study of environmental auditing of all sites of oil and the environmental impact assessment for new and replacement of worn-out pipelines and the establishment of technical committees for the study of contaminated sites due to the low productivity as well as extraction and transportation of oil closed in places manned and replacement of drilling dust collection tank is closed.
members of the Committee suggest the installation of sensors to measure hydrogen sulphide gas and to rehabilitate roads to serve the oil fields in addition to establishing a green belt around the oil fields and the application of safety and security conditions for exploration and oil production and processing laboratories of the environment and find a station to monitor air pollutants and increase the contribution of oil companies in the infrastructure of the province.
