Abu Kamal oil company held the 1st board meeting on 2/2/2010, after it was recently formed as a joint operating venture between the General Petroleum Corporation and the Russian TATNEFT which reached to a commercial discovery in the block 27, which is located near the town of Abu Kamal in the province of Deir al-Zour east of Syria and with area about two thousand km 2.

The Governing Council, which included four members of the national side and four of the company TATNEFT took a series of resolutions most notably was the adoption of logo of the operating company and the organizational structure and follow up procedures for the registration of the operating company in the Ministry of Economy.

The Council discussed the adoption of work program and budget for the operating company for the year 2010 and includes the development of South al-Kashmeh field and running South al-Kashmeh well1 in the first quarter of the year 2010 and run the 4 wells (1 + 2 + 101 + 103) in the second quarter of the year 2010 will be in addition to the future drilling 8 wells productivity + developmental well (assessment) and therefore operation of 13 wells.
