(ELARD) the resources of advanced development Company held workshop in cooperation with the Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs in the Semiramis Hotel, focused on the launch of plastic bags and packaging materials disintegration “D2 W” (an abbreviation of the English word Degradable to water) are compatible with the requirements of environmental regulations and laws in 65 countries in the world and Syria.

 


Dr. Mowaffaq Sheikh Ali, Director General of for (ELARD) clarified the importance of managing plastic waste, especially plastic that is an essential part of life and activity, pointing out that the danger of using these bags very long estimated at 200 years.

 

He said that a simple calculation shows that the Syrians are using, about 25 million plastic bags a day for vegetables and bread for the environment without going to degrade, and therefore the new technology posed by the company believes the solution to the accumulation of plastic in the environment without damage.
He added that if life of the bag is estimated about 200 years, the first bag of throwing in the environment are still in our soil and water.

 

For his part, said Eng. Fouad al-Ek environmental safety manager at the Ministry of State for the Environment said that the workshop aimed at environmental awareness with the manufacturers of plastic bags and display bag and viable world for analysis and the safety of use of the materials involved in the manufacture, explaining that the bags be one of the possible alternatives to reduce the spread of plastic bags plastics.

 

Al-Ek pointed out that the ministry is to find safe methods of waste management of various kinds and by the cooperation with the concerned authorities of civil and environmental associations and the ministry focuses on efforts to find a solution to the problems of plastic bags and their negative effects on the environment in general as they affect the animals, land, sea and soil.

 

 

 

And on methods to reduce the risks of using plastic bags and dispose of them drew Eng. Rula Abu Zaid, director of solid waste in the ministry said that it is through rational use of alternatives such as bags by using canvas or paper bags to preserve the natural resources and gains at all levels in addition to sorting waste plastic through recycling and sorting plants especially where there are 36 screening and treatment plant in Syria, pointing out that the proportion of household use of plastics is from 6 to 12 percent of household waste.
