Natural gas shipments from Egypt will start flowing into Lebanon within two weeks, and a team of experts is currently finalizing all related technical issues, the Lebanese official National News Agency, or NNA, reports Monday.
NNA cites Lebanon’s Energy and Water Minister Alain Tabourian as saying that the Egyptian gas will help reduce the country’s energy cost.
Egypt’s Petroleum Minister Sameh Fahmi, who is currently heading his ministry’s delegation in an official visit to Lebanon, said the gas is ready to be sent to Lebanon, NNA reports.
“It is up to the Lebanese state to complete some technical procedures and to coordinate with Jordan and Syria regarding the transportation of these supplies across their territories,” NNA cites Fahmi as saying.
