Allaw : Syria plans to increase natural gas production to 8 billion cubic meters in 2010

Eng. Sufian Allaw Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources said that” Syria plans to increase natural gas production from 6 billion cubic meters to 8 billion cubic meters in 2010.
Allaw said in a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Tater Yaldiz in Ankara that Syria is a transit country and source of natural gas and it is ready to buy natural gas from Nubboco Pipeline.
He added that Syria wants to sign a contract with Butash Turkish Company to buy gas from Turkey saying that
Arab Oil Pipeline will be finished on in 2010 and then Egyption Gas will transport to Turkey.
Yaldiz ,on his part said that Syria wants to buy one billion cubic meter a year from Turkey based on five or four years contract adding that Turkey can sell as well as Electricity to Syria.
Allaw discussed with Yaldiz areas of cooperation in natural gas, electricity and water field .
