Eng. Sufian Allaw Minister of oil and mineral resources said that local market is wide open for individuals and companies investments by establishing fuel stations. Up till 16th June about 219 persons offer to do that.

He added that Qatari fuel Co. gave an offer to establish modern station net for fuel distributions. Currently it’s discussing with executive offices in Provinces on sites.

Allaw assumed in an interview in al-Khaber newspaper that extensions work contracts with Total and Shell benefit Syria indicated that the agreement was on the base of the previous contracts with some other related social excellences to have developing grants . in addition to put new conditions for the good of oil ministry when oil prices move above 60 or 80 $.

On the other hand , Allaw said that establishing petrochemical industry is related to gas supplying .. saying that local gas is specified to meet electricity plants needs, industrial cities and transportations. So this step depends on new discoveries of gas or implementing agreements on gas export . Syria export gas from Egypt and has an agreement with Iran for exporting gas through the Turkish net .

He added that there is a strategic project for Iranian gas shipping through Iraq to Syria then to Mediterranean with high quantities saying that Syria offer to Iran to establish joint projects .. the cost of establishing Pipelines through Iraq is about 1.5 billion Dollars.
