Total E&P Syrie Sponsored Yann Arthus- Bertrand ‘s Photographic exhibition

Under the sponsorship of Total E&P Syrie, the French Artist Yann Arthus- Bertrand opened his Photographic exhibition / Earth From Above… An Aerial portrait of our planet … Towards a sustainable development / in Tishreen Park in 15th May.

 

Mrs. Asma Assad the Syrian president’s wife with Turkish First Lady Khair al-Nessa Gul visited the Exhibition and met with Arthus- Bertrand who told them about his Photos.

 

 

Kawkab Daya Environment Minister said in the opening ceremony that the exhibited photos convey lot of stories about these places in and out Syria by an artist eye adding that the photos in addition to the wonderful views of our planet as well they contained the environmental abuses made by mankind.

 

Arthus- Bertrand said that our Planet is not only beautiful but very beautiful, it looks like this. We have to protect it with all our efforts.

 

He added that his photos are at the same time exhibited in USA and Morocco indicated that he does lot of activities related to Environment like his participation in Good Planet Society which he established since five years with forty members care of environmental affairs around the world.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Arthus- Bertrand Born in 1946 , he has dedicated his life to protecting and promoting the beauty of our fragile environment.

 

 

Earth from Above Exhibition contains 136 Photos 120 of them are about places and cities around the world and the 16 remained are about Syria and aimed to express the need to keep the beauty of these places by keep on the environmental rules.

 

Damascus Arab Culture Capital General Secretary provided the artist with a plane to facilitate his work in the whole of Syria.

The Exhibition will continue till 29th July in Tishreen Park.

 

TOTAL E&P SYRIE, a subsidiary of the French Group TOTAL, started its operations in 1988 in the Deir Ez Zor permit after signing a Production Sharing Agreement in December 1988.

 

Production started in the early 1990s through the Operating Company Deir Ez Zor Petroleum Company (DEZPC). Total has invested around 1200 million USD in Syria for exploration and production activities and discovered 350 million barrels of oil equivalent. Present production level is around 30,000 bopd, with an accumulated production exceeding 250 million barrels in the 4th quarter 2007

 

In addition to its Exploration and production activities TOTAL E&P SYRIE supports a number of Sustainable Development projects in Health, Environment, Education, cultural heritage and Local Economic Development especially in Deir Ez Zor area, in cooperation with the local entities and international organizations working in Syria.
