Allaw: currently a rate of Egyptian gas to Syria is 90mcf. a day

Eng.Sufian Allaw Syrian Oil Minister said that Egyptian gas to Syria is currently rate of 90 million cubic feet per day equivalent to 20% of the total gas consumption in Syria of 450 million feet a day.

 

He told a news conference, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Ministers of Petroleum and Energy of the Arab Gas Pipeline in Cairo: that negotiations were underway with the Iraqi government to transfer the surplus gas from the fields of Western Iraq to the Syrian territory, including the “Akkas ” Iraq’s total reserves of 250 billion cubic meters, and across the Syrian lines are now will link with Arab gas network.

 

He pointed out that it is being part of the implementation of the line between the Turkish Aleppo to the border along the 90 kilometers long, with a view to linking the gas associated with Turkey and the European gas network.

 

For his part, Eng. Sameh Fahmi, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum indicated to the need for economic justice with regard to the export of gas to achieve the common interests of all parties, whether exporters or producers or consumers, to meet the aspirations of the peoples of the participating countries.
