Allaw: investment of Palmyra salt will start with local community participation

Eng. Sufian Allaw minister of oil and mineral resources said that investment of Palmyra salt will go with new technique with local participation. The private sector will be permitted to invest this resource that will employ huge number of human resources of the area.

 

The law no.23 of 2008 allowed private and joint sectors to drag, retreat ,transport and marketing salt of industry and food uses according to governmental excellences .

 

 

Allaw added during a field visit to Palmyra Salt field that the relevant sides of investment in this field have agreed to create a joint venture for this purpose to invest and marketing salt put some of its shares for subscription.

 
He indicated that Irrigation ministry’s studies showed the need for pump one million cubic meter of water to drag salt which its annual production may reach to 80.000 tons good for human consumption within an increasable area of 15.000 dunums.

 

 

Allaw had previously visited East Phosphate mines and reviewed the work phases in Syrian Phosphate factory.

 

 

Syrian local production of salt is 130.000 tons a year which is not enough to meet local increased need which is about 200.000 tons a year a mid of expectations of increasing demand to 300.000 tons a year within ten coming years.
