Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul Mahdi said on Wednesday that France’s Total Group opportunities are “very good” to win good contracts in Iraq. This came after he was received by French President Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris .

Iraqi officials say that the invitation had been extended to the Total and Chevron for a joint bid to compete with Statoil – Hydro, the Norwegian Oil contract to develop oil field in the Nahr bin Omar and the south of the country, with an estimated six billion barrels of reserves.

 
Abdul-Mahdi said in Paris, “Total’s already working in Iraq is a very good knowledge of the oilfields in the country. Total access to the very good to get good contracts in Iraq.
