Mrs. Asma Assad opened “Ceramica world” Exhibition

Mrs. Asma Assad opened«ceramica world exhibition.. distinctive works of art from the Victoria and Albert Museum »hosted by the British Museum« Victoria and Albert » by cooperation with Syria Shell for oil development in the historic Khan Asaad Pasha in Damascus.

 

Mrs. Assad toured the exhibition, accompanied by Mr. Mark Jones, director of the Victoria and Albert Museum and Sir Timothy Syaynsberi member of the Board of Trustees of the museum and Baroness Elizabeth Symons represented the British government and the Ola Maclestad, general manager of Syria Shell .

 

 

This opening comes among Mrs. Assad concerns in support of the Syrian culture and vivacious heritage protection… It also comes among a series of activities sponsored and supported by the encouragement of dialogue and cultural exchange among peoples and nations, which is part of the efforts of Mrs. Assad received and well-respected global assessment.

 

Mr. Jones said that Damascus has a long history that makes it one of the finest cities in the world … we are very pleased to establish the ceramic world exhibition in this city the capital of Arab culture and we hope that we attract a wide spectrum of visitors to see some ceramic pieces in the Victoria and Albert Museum and the exhibition shows to what extent learned different parts of the world Each other in the past.

The exhibition, which opened in the framework of celebratory events Damascus, capital of Arab culture for 2008 reflects the role played by the Middle East in the evolution of art and the ceramic industry in the world, especially Syria, which produced ceramics for more than eight thousand years as a unique exhibition of ceramic pieces from Syrian National Museum in Damascus to represent the achievements of Syrian pottery makers of the twelfth century until the fourth century of the Common Era, where these manufacturers has done a good number of techniques including painting and drawing glazed colored under glazed and gleaming decorations , three important contributions by the porcelain makers Muslim of the history of ceramic art ..
