Ministry of oil and mineral resources reduced the price of phosphate 15% due to decline of global demand for this material , which ranged in price of about 180 $ per ton.

The lower the price of phosphates globally was as a result of many of its fertilizer plants in the world after the decline in large number of agricultural products, corn, grains, sugar, reducing the demand for fertilizers, which in turn reflected the demand for phosphate.
Syrian phosphate face strong competition, particularly from Algeria, Jordan.
