Shell Syria for Petroleum Development has ceremony on Monday evening in Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus on the occasion of extension of their contracts with the Al Furat Syrian Oil Company for ten years.

Eng. Sufian Allao Minister of Oil and Mineral resources said in a speech at the ceremony that the relationship with foreign companies operating in Syria is a constructive partnership based on mutual benefit and called all foreign companies to invest in Syria in the exploration and prospecting for oil and gas.

minister said that Shell has over forty years of partnership and a major part in the production and a large producer of oil in Syria, pointing out that the production of Shell through Al-Furat was about 2100 million barrels of oil.

He explained that an agreement has been reached with Shell to extend the contract and to continue cooperation for 10 additional years, after long negotiations with studies and data pointed to the presence of additional quantities of oil could be extracted using modern techniques and experiences are distinct when Shell will give Syrian Oil Company and the staff of the company for the production of the al-Furat Quantities and raise yields to the highest possible rates.

Managing Director of Shell in Syria Ola Maclestad confirmed that Shell is looking forward to continue to support the partnership and maintain a relationship of cooperation and partnership with the Syrian government through the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources, pointing out that the extension of contracts with the Syrian Oil Company would give Shell an opportunity to continue work with national companies to develop energy sector Local and sustain the success of Al Furat oil.
