Egypt has increased the amount of gas delivered to Syria about 1.2 million cubic meters a day after it was initiated in the fifth month of this year, 300 thousand cubic meters per day.
The Eng. Sufian Allao Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources said that the quantities will increase to reach 2.5 million cubic meters by contract value agreed with the Egyptian side.
He added: The brothers in Egypt are cooperating with us well and understand the need for Egyptian gas We will as well as understand certain circumstances that may arise here or there.
Allao noted that there are 1.5 million cubic meters of gas from, the Syrian Abu Rabah field will be added to the gas produced in Syria and this will provide all the needs of the entire electricity sector in Syria in addition to the action ,we are optimistic that the implementation of the gas refineries under construction after the settlement of some financial problems that were Disagreement between the ministry and the company implemented a factory north 6 – 7.2 million cubic meters per day means that production will double within two or three years such abundance and thus could provide gas to other sectors.
The flow of Egyptian gas to Syria through the Arab Gas Pipeline began on Thursday 10/7/2008 implementation of the Convention on the sale of Egyptian gas to Syria between the two countries.
On the other hand , Allao said “We have two types of derivatives are of concern to the Ministry of fuel and diesel As for diesel our problem is great, but this time in terms of abundance and shortage is not as quantities Ensnarement decreased significantly by consumers, raising the company fuel reserves at a peak in itself is a problem because refineries Produced quantities of more than Ensnarement and seize the opportunity this opportunity to invite consumers to their allocations of fuel oil getting backed by the State to talk to bottlenecks at the beginning of winter and I also pointed out that vouchers work until 30/4/2009.
As for the fuel situation is good but it needs to follow up on a daily day after day need more private sector and this means increasing the burden on the oil ministry With respect to the needs of power stations and the situation is excellent supply requirements in addition to the full restoration of the shortage, which happened in the past But I say the situation well and provides fuel from the sea and by land and concern in this regard.
The cabinet recently agreed to increase the selling price of fuel by 3000 Syrian pounds per ton to 9000 to apply the new rate on both public and private sectors as the first of next December, based on a memorandum of the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources, made by the government included Indicators increased demand for consumption of fuel oil in the domestic industrial market.
