U.S. sanctions on Syria’s oil sector

The U.S. government imposed on Thursday economic sanctions on Syria includes the oil sector, where banned the import of petroleum products originating from the Syrian and put a new set of Syrian companies on the “black list”, most notably the General Petroleum Corporation State-owned and responsible for oil and gas industry in Syria.

 

 

According to the new package of sanctions, it would be forbidden to American companies concluding deals or transactions include oil products in Syria.

 

 

the U.S. government doesn’t export petroleum products originating from the Syrian and does not have now any deal officially with the U.S. oil companies in Syria, noting that Syria did not stop once the U.S. companies to participate to tenders for concessions petroleum posed by the oil ministry, both in terms of exploring new areas or development of existing fields.
