Lebanon will rise from poverty and be one of the oil producing countries, Water and Energy Minister Jibran Bassil said Thursday

His remarks came during the opening of the “First International Lebanese Conference on oil exploration in Lebanon” held at “Le Royal” hotel in Dbayeh.

Bassil said his ministry is on the right track with the process of oil exploration and has witnessed the issuance of the petroleum law while conducting meetings with professionals in order to benefit from their expertise in this field.

He called upon the government to commit to finalizing the ratification of the needed decrees before the end of 2011 in order to start giving licenses for the implementation of the project at the beginning of 2012.
