Awarding of Block No. 3 to the companies of Petro-Canada and Total

The General Petroleum Corporation has completed the process of studying and evaluation of the international companies’ offers for the Block No. 3 which covers an area of about 10. 400 km2 located in the north east of the country within the territory of Al Hasaka and Alraqa that is adjacent to the Turkish border.
The companies ofPetro-Canada of Canada and Total of France were informed, as joint contractor, that they were winning the bid to explore oil and gas in this block, and thus to begin negotiation and discussion of the draft contract and to prepare the all relevant documentation to sign the contract in its final form with the representatives of the two companies in the coming days.
Noting that the French company of Total is working as a partner with GPC in the Petroleum Company of Deir Ez Zor and it conducts a group of producing fields in Deir Ez Zor a rate of about 25000 barrels of oil per day now , and also implements the investment contract of Tabiyeh field in the city of Deir Ez Zor, It also is in talks to expand the company’s work in the exploration and development of new areas in the Trough of Euphrates and through the Framework Agreement, signed previously with the Ministry of Petroleum and mineral Resources.
The company of Petro-Canada is currently conducting activities of exploration for oil and gas in Block No. 2 (Al Qamishli Contract) which covers 6700 km2, in addition to being a partner with the GPC through the Petroleum Company of Ebla which is operating gas plant of Ebla, and developing the fields of Al-Shaer and Al-Sharifa with a current production of gas up to 2,4 million m3 /day and about 3000 barrels of condensates and oil per day in addition to about 120 tons / day of LPG.
