Saffer confirms government’s support for the work of Shell in Syria and providing the necessary facilities to expand its exploration and production

Dr. Adel Safar, the Prime Minister discussed with Graham Henley General Manager of Shell Syria, prospects for cooperation between the company and the General Petroleum Corporation in the areas of prospecting and exploration for oil and gas and Investment development and increase their production in order to contribute to meet the growing needs for energy for development purposes, and industrial and social development.

 

 

During the meeting, the two sides review the company’s activities and future programs and plans to develop production and rehabilitation and development of the current situation of oil refineries in Syria in addition to rehabilitation and training frameworks operating in the rich oil and gas sector.

Safer during the meeting, stressed government’s support for the work of Shell and to provide the necessary facilities would contribute to strengthening its role and expand its exploration and production and their contributions to development and social development.

Shell and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) have signed an agreement to transfer 35% of Shell’s interest in Syria Shell Petroleum Development (SSPD) to China National Petroleum Corporation, which enables CNPC to more actively participate in developing AFPC and to be represented at AFPC board. This is part of the global cooperation between Shell and CNPC which has also yielded separate deals in Australia, Qatar and China itself) “.

Shell has had several meetings with our Syrian partners before and after the agreement with CNPC was signed. We have not only explained to them the benefits of the deal but also reiterated Shell’s continuing commitment to bring value to AFPC through the deployment of Shell technology and business processes as well as the deployment of Shell Expert staff into AFPC.
