Meeting which was held at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources today between the shareholders and the Board of Directors of the joint oil refinery Alfrekls between Syria, Iran and Venezuela, and experts company Aksens French advisory to discuss and prepare a study pre-engineering design the final of the refinery to be set up in the Alfrekls in the province of Homs with estimated power by 140 thousand barrels per day.

 

 

Eng. Sufian Allaw Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources indicated that the three States that Syria, Venezuela, Iran reaffirmed its commitment to the implementation of the refinery, adding that a feasibility study by the French company to its implementation will continue about ten months to end in March next year to begin immediately after the implementation phase and the signing of the contracts necessary to finance the refinery with the banks funding and funds in addition to participating States in the refinery, pointing out that the estimated duration for the establishment of the refinery is estimated at four years.

 

The oil minister said that the refinery will depend mainly on the Syrian oil light and heavy will also be ready to receive oil from other countries such as Iraq if agreement was reached with the Iraqi side, pointing out that the three countries participating in the refinery would be a great team of engineers specialists to keep up with the follow-up stages of the study economic feasibility and implementation phases of the refinery to accomplish the shortest possible time and according to the latest and accurate specifications.

 

And on the resumption of pumping Iraqi oil through Syria between Eng Alao that Iraq’s oil minister told him that his country had completed the surveys, the initial line oil old Kirkuk-Banias and Iraqi companies began the work of maintenance and repair of the line within the Iraqi territory so be finished this work before the end of this year, pointing out that the Iraqi side agreed with a Canadian company to begin conducting economic studies for the project to build two new tubes on the export of Iraqi oil through the Syrian ports to implement the agreement signed between Syria and Iraq on this subject.

 

The two sides of the Iranian and Venezuelan their country’s support for this important project and the need to accelerate the implementation of the project on the ground through the follow-up feasibility study and subsequent stages of implementation to achieve the desired purpose of the establishment of the refinery.

 

The meeting was attended by Eng. Hussam Abdoeddin , Deputy Oil Minister, Eng Noordin Makhlouf and Mohamed Abbas and a number of stakeholders from the Syrian side, and representatives from the Iranian side and Venezuela and the French company in charge of economic study.
