Oil Minister Eng.Sufian Allaw participates in the work of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Commission, which began its work on Wednesday for two days to discuss common themes between the two countries in political and economic systems, including oil, gas and refining industry.

The cooperation between Syria and Iran is mainly in the areas of gas and refining industry where cooperation began by signing a memorandum of understanding to transfer Iranian gas to Syria, then deal the basic principles and discuss the coordination mechanism for the transfer of gas to Syria via Turkey, where it is accelerated procedures for the implementation of the gas transmission line between Aleppo and the Turkish border to link with the Turkish network then becomes possible to import gas from Iran through this network. along with the project, which has already been previously introduced by Iran to establish a pipeline to transport gas from Iran through Iraq to Syria and then to link the Arab gas line.

Iran is also involved in the establishment of the joint Syrian-Venezuelan refinery to be set up in Alfrekls in the governorate of Homs with a power of 140 thousand barrels.
