Otri and Allaw and a number of ministers to Baghdad on Saturday for talks with Iraqi officials in economic and development areas

Prime Minister Muhammad Naji al-Otri to give an official visit to Baghdad on Saturday, to hold talks with Iraqi officials «dealing with relations of cooperation between the two brotherly countries and ways of enhancing and expanding its horizons in the areas of economic and development».
Otri will be accompanied by, a delegation of ministers of finance, foreign affairs and oil and mineral Resources and the President of the State Planning Body and the Assistant Vice President of the Republic.
Eng. Sufian Allaw Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources signed in October with Dr. Hussain al-Shahristani, Iraqi Oil Minister a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in the oil.
Syria and Iraq signed during the visit Otri to Baghdad in April 2008 a joint memoranda of understanding in the areas of oil, trade and energy.
It was agreed on the rehabilitation of the Kirkuk – Banias oil pipeline and prepare a draft of cooperation agreement sets a strategic integration between the two countries in all fields.
It is worth mentioning that the Iraqi government said in September last year that a preliminary agreement between Iraq and Syria will allow the export of about three million barrels of Iraqi oil a day through pipelines arrive to the Mediterranean through Syria so that they are the first line with a capacity up to 1.5 million barrels, while the energy the second line of 1.25 million.
The government said that the line will be the largest to export heavy crude, while the smaller line will export light crudes suggesting the government to include a line III project to transport gas that could be used to run the pumping stations.
