Ministry of oil and Mineral Resources continued during the year 2010 plans and programs to ensure the needs of Syria’s gas and oil derivatives, in addition to the announcement of the new areas for exploration and development areas of the list in order to increase production, oil to meet growing needs as well as the opening of several gas processing plants and the conclusion of agreements and memorandums of understanding in various fields to attract investment and broaden the scope of current and future work and production.

14/1/2010 Ministry of petroleum and mineral resources and General Petroleum Corporation announced developing of 7 oil fields areas in Arraqah central Syria through INTERNATIONAL BID ROUND .The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and General Petroleum Corporation (GPC) invited International Petroleum Companies for an international Bid Round in order to complete exploration, development and production of Seven Oil Areas on the base of Production Sharing Contract.
4/3/2010 Oil Ministry and Azeri Industry and Energy Ministry signed on a protocol to complete the procedures to sign an agreement for the sale and purchase of 1-1.5 billion m 3 / year of natural gas, Azerbaijan to secure the needs of Syria this article, and will transport gas through Georgian territory, Turkish and will be handed over when the Syrian-Turkish border and using the facilities and infrastructure available.
1/4/2010 Minstry of oil announced that gas production in Syria has reached 28 million cubic meters per day. About 20 million cubic meters go to the Ministry of Electricity to be used in electricity generation plants, which helps reduce the import of fuel, thus saving considerable amounts of foreign currency.
5/4/2010 The Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources has invited bids for global exploration blocks in eight new cover about 40 percent of Syria, in addition to the performances to develop seven old wells to increase Cost-effectiveness of productivity and achieving better rates.
22/4/2010 President Assad Inaugurates Ebla Gas Plant and underlined the importance of Syria’s gas resource and its investment to the best of ways. President Bashar Assad underlined Thursday the importance of Syria’s gas resource and its investment to the best of ways.Inaugurating Ebla Gas Plant in al-Freqlus, Homs, 162 kilometers from Damascus, President Assad called for the expanding of gas exploration, produce, and continued use of international up-to-date technologies to contribute to the execution of huge developmental projects, as to keep pace with Syria’s ongoing development and growth process.
24/4/2010 inauguration Production kick off in oil fields of Abu-Kamal Oil Company in Deir al-Zour with 1.000 barrel a day in South al-Kamsheh Plant which was developed by the company through digging additional wells and establishing Production plant to reach 5.000 barrel a day in 2014.Abu-Kamal Oil Company is a joint venture was established between GPC and Russian Tat Naft Company based on Oil Exploration and Developing and Production Contract which was approved by Legislative Law 24 in 2005.
25/8/2010 Syria and Iraq signed the minutes of the meeting which took place in Damascus on 25 August 2010 between the ministries of oil in Iraq and Syria on the transport of Iraqi crude oil and gas to the Mediterranean coast through Syrian territory. Ministry of oil welcomed the signing and said saying that “This important step contributing to the development of relations between the two countries and is active in economic cooperation between them, in the interests of the two brotherly peoples.” The record also take advantage of the capabilities available in existing oil transportation system, as well as take advantage of the system of transporting and processing gas currently exist in Syria.
4/9/2010 Prime Minister Eng. Mohammed Naji Otri will open on Thursday al-Furat Oil and Gas Technological Institute in Tim field in Deir Ez-Zor preparing to receive the students of the school year 2010-2011.
5/10/2010 memo of understating between Public Phosphate company and Indian Advisory Engineering Consortium was signed Thursday at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. The memo is to prepare the feasibility of developing phosphate industry in Syria.
7/10/2010 Prime Minister Eng. Mohammed Naji Otri, opened today, the National training Center in Alfrekls in Homs governorate, which was built in cooperation between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and International Petrofac Company at a cost of $ 12 million. center, which has a capacity of 120 trainees per year aims to train and qualify the staffs of maintenance and operation of new graduates (engineers – technicians) for staff with high efficiency to work in gas plants and refineries and oil installations to meet the needs of the oil industry and gas and new projects coming and which are required elements capable of use of modern technology.
14/11/2010 Oil and Mineral resources Ministry launched, a project to increase storage capacity in Banias gas unit by adding five spherical tanks capacity of 3000 cubic meters each, so that the total storage capacity of 11,500 tons what he believes in the continuing supply of gas filling units without interruption. The significance of the project is to increase the overall capacity for storing liquid gas at the site of Banias to 11500 tons, while the implementation of the project before 4000 tons in addition to the possibility of receiving tankers with a tonnage of freedom as much as 15000 tons as well as to avoid a break in the domestic gas as a result of difficult weather conditions.
4/12/2010 Syria and Venezuela signed on Friday a memo of understanding to set up executive steps to complete the joint Alfrekls refinery project in eastern Homs.
