Gulfsands drill two exploratory wells in Block 26 within the 2nd phase of extension for a period of initial exploration
The company aims of the drilling process to explore the hydrocarbon potential in Alcherainch and Almasev formation from age of the high Cretaceous in block / 26 /, note that the company is in the second phase extension of the initial exploration period from 08.21.2010 till 08.20.2012.
Mr. Mahdi Sajjad, General Manager of Gulf Sands said at a gala dinner held on the occasion of the company’s board of directors in Damascus earlier this month that his company plans to drill six new exploration wells in 2011.
At that ceremony the company announced the complete of preparations to sign a contract of permanent station for production with the Italian company Saipem global note that the plant will be ready in the second half of 2012 and initial power by 33 thousand barrels of oil / day.
Gulfsands has participated in partnership with Italy’s Eni in a tender eight new blocks announced by the Ministry of Oil which results aren’t announced yet.
It is worth mentioning that the company began official production from the wells dug by Block 26 in north-eastern Syria as of September of the year 2008.
Dijllah Company was established as a joint venture between the General Petroleum Corporation and Gulf Sands Petroleum Co. to drill for oil under a contract for oil exploration, development and production in Block 26.
The company produced about 21 thousand barrels of oil per day from 18 thousand barrels of field Kherbet east while the daily production in the field of Yusufiya 3 thousand barrels, sources of the company indicates that this production can be increased especially with a capacity of production is used in the Youssifiyah Station.
