Deir Ezzor Petroleum Company held a workshop about MAESTRO system for Health, Safety and Environment Management with participation of main staff of the Company and number of related persons in General Petroleum Corporation.

The workshop that continued two days focused on Comprehensive Management System MAESTRO to reach the needs of the DEZPC operations.

MAESTRO is the Management System incorporating the major HSE standards and system requirements, mainly OHSAS18001:1999 for Occupational health and Safety, and ISO14001 for environment.

 
It consists of 12 Principles represented by respect of the Law and Regulation , responsibilities of Management, Operational responsibilities, risk Evaluation and Management, respect for the Environment, Safeguarding of Health, Contractor’s and Suppliers, Competence and training of personnel, Emergency preparedness, incident analysis, audits and inspection, and performance improvement.

 
Health Safety and Environment are of highest importance for DEZC when performing its operations in exploration and production. The prime objective is to save the life and health of those involved in the operations and the society alike, to prevent pollution to the environment and produce as clean as possible environmentally. This is reflected in the HSE policy signed by Two Managing Directors.

 
DEZC and Total E&P Syrie took a lot of measures to safe environment like; Waste separation and treatment, reduction of gas burning, training staffs in areas Health and profession, and environment …etc.

DEZC has ISO14001 for environment for 2004 in accordance with international standards of Environment Management System to be the 1st Syrian Company to win this certificate.
