the international tender for oil exploration in Syria has completed … Total and Italy’s Eni, Petro-Canada are the leading submitted companies

last Wednesday ,the eighth of this month, international tender for oil exploration and development and production in the eight new blocks , covering about 40 percent of the area of Syria announced by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the General Petroleum Corporation  last March has ended .

 

 

eight blocks are located in different parts in the north and south-east Syria, and an approximate area about 73 thousand km 2.

 

The announcement came in the framework of plans and programs of the Oil Ministry to increase production by expanding the exploration activities to include all Syrian territories and development of old fields, where the ministry offered new areas for exploration through a number of bids over the past years resulted in the signing of 12 contracts to explore new areas During the period from 2003 to 2007, with specialized international and qualified companies .

 

 

GPC said that 12 international companies from different nationalities made their offers for this tender as not yet clear what blocks made out by these companies.

 

The French company Total and Canadian Petro-Canada and Italy’s Eni in partnership with British Gulfsands are leading companies which submitted their offers for this tender as well as companies such as CNPC of China and Lawn Energy – Syria Branch of Canadian and UAE Dana Gas, and HPC Tunisian and Pico Egyptian ,Azvenska Swedish and IPR America and Sideragon Energy French and Flournoy Oil & Gas /.

 

GPC indicated that the content of announcement aimed at the conclusion of a production-sharing for all the operations of prospecting and exploration, develop and produce of oil in the region, described the book of technical conditions and pursuant to the provisions, obligations and conditions contained in the draft contract attached to the book of the conditions prescribed for this purpose.
Companies have the right to bid separately for one block or more.
