Eng. Sufian Allaw Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources during a meeting in Tripoli, Dr. Shukri Mohammed Ghanem, head of Libyan National Oil Corporation discussed bilateral relations between the two countries in the field of oil, gas and ways of developing them.

The two sides expressed during the meeting, the desire to establish joint investment projects between the two countries and cooperation through the exchange of information and experiences and implementation of training programs for cadres in Syria, Libya.

Allaw said to reporters after the meeting that he discussed with Ghanem the possible participation of National Oil Corporation in prospecting and exploration for oil and gas in Syria in addition to the areas of exchange of experience marketing and development of gas fields and the training of cadres.

Allaw added that it was the establishing of a new national training center in Syria to cooperate with foreign companies with experience to train cadres in the areas of oil and gas industry, explaining that he had agreed Ghanem, to send a delegation from the Libyan National Oil to visit Syria while the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources of Syria will send documentation to identify place to send young Libyans to train in Syria.

The minister pointed that meeting addressed methods of developing the performance of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries OAPEC also presented a draft agreement on a draft bilateral agreement in the field of oil and gas between Syria and Libya, expressing his hope to study well and will be signed at the meeting of the Council of strategic cooperation joint to be held in December next in Damascus.

For his part, Ghanem said that there is cooperation between the two countries, especially in the international conferences that are to attend and participate in such meetings of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries OPEC observers in OAPEC as permanent members, pointing out that it had been discussion of the topics to be presented at the meeting of OAPEC in December next year, when formatted views on some topics related to Arab cooperation in the field of petroleum projects…

With regard to oil market conditions the two sides discussed international oil and gas market is international.

Ghanem said Allaw told him that Syria will conduct a tour of the world’s gas companies to participate in the processes of exploration of gas fields in addition to cooperation in the exchange of information and the oil activity in common and open the door for Arab companies and oil services company to work in Syria.

Ghanem said about the proposed memorandum of cooperation from the Syrian side that cooperation with Syria is under agreement and that the note presented by Allaw is a project of cooperation between the two countries hope to sign during the meeting of Strategic Council Top Syrian Libyan to be held in Damascus later this year.

He pointed out that the essence of this agreement is to exchange information, exchange visits and training and joint projects in the field of oil and gas.
