Total E&P Syrie funds opening the winner project of East Pioneer Prize

Syrian Association for Youth Entrepreneurs / SYEA /and Total Exploration and Production in Syria opened the Award winning project East Pioneer 2009, “East Four information services and Art production.”

Suheir Shaheen, head of sustainable development at Total E&P Syrie , who fund the program said through the opening Ceremony to the importance of the idea of the project raise awareness among Syrian society in Deir al-Zour and the eastern region. The project seeks to work with media power in the area and waiting for the the appropriate opportunity to work.

In her turn, Eng. Rim Ali branch of / SYEA /in Deir al-zour said that the branch was in touch with the operators of the project and the continued establishment of the office step by-step built based on the work seriously, especially in terms of their commitment to the plan of action which they submitted to/ SYEA /after the announcement of the competition.
Ali also confirmed that / SYEA /is currently in the context of seeking to accomplish the second version of the program and obtain funding for East Pioneers 2011 to give new people an opportunity to create their own work.

Firas al-Kadi the owner of the winner project thanked the partners in the project East pioneers representatives at Total Exploration and Production in Syria and / SYEA /and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Deir Al-Zour, pointing out that the product (Eastern) Media will not be limited to his team, composed of six persons, but it will be dealing with all media in the province of Deir al-Zour in principle, there are planning to expand the team of the provinces of tenderness and Hasakah This is one of the most important objectives of the project, pointing out that it will seek to reflect the true face of Deir Al-Zour, and the definition of the Syrian community in the county in all respects.

It is note worthy that / SYEA /has launched / East Pioneers/in East region due to demand of Total E& P Syrie as a part of Total E& P Syrie social responsibility to support this area.

TOTAL E&P SYRIE, a subsidiary of the French Group TOTAL, started its operations in 1988 in the Deir Ez Zor permit after signing a Production Sharing Agreement in December 1988.

Production started in the early 1990s through the Operating Company Deir Ez Zor Petroleum Company (DEZPC). Total has invested around 1200 million USD in Syria for exploration and production activities and discovered 350 million barrels of oil equivalent. Present production level is around 30,000 bopd, with an accumulated production exceeding 250 million barrels in the 4th quarter 2007.

In addition to its Exploration and production activities TOTAL E&P SYRIE supports a number of Sustainable Development projects in Health, Environment, Education, cultural heritage and Local Economic Development especially in Deir Ez Zor area, in cooperation with the local entities and international organizations working in Syria.
