In spite of existing huge quantities of oil extract in Syrian Republic ,Syria is forced to export many kinds of oil materials due to lack of information about Syrian oil Properties especially Heavy derivatives in one hand and difficulties of treating oils based on mineral oils Oil Business.

Generally speaking Syrian oil contains large quantities of Resin and Asphalt components which are in Heavy oil derivatives , so that main oils aren’t produced in Syria up till up till now and at present producing mineral oils from Syrian oil is one of the most future oil projects due of its great importance to
Develop the national economy fulfilling the needs of the diameter of the imported material.
Dr. Hassan Zahrawi studied the selective method of extraction mineral oils of Syrian oil by solvent (Dimefuma Amin )

Laboratories in the University polo technique the winner of the Lenin Award in the city of Fov in 1985 and PHD in Information Technology.

This method proved access to the properties of oils based on a sticky so new that the possibility of producing mineral oils of the Syrian oil to get the key data to create a plant to extract oil selective mineral oils derived from Syrian oil
For the first time to date has examined the contents of mineral oil to the fields of Krachuk and Swedia as that using of the method of phase three to phase balance the middle were given the possibility of identifying a selection of vehicles drop of multiple forms and used the chromatographic method and quantitative analysis and qualitative and fission of organic compounds under the influence of magnetic Select the quantity and quality of organic compounds that are oil basis refenat afterlife and organic compounds that are succulents extraxt

This method based on the chemical physicist and the impact of currents and magnetic ability in the establishment molecules of chemical and shown on the electronic screen, although scientific value of this enormous work to renew the chemical composition of fuel and mineral oils and the percentage in the Syrian oil using the method of electronic programming to determine the best conditions selective and then search method purification selective to mineral oils with organic compounds multiple quality mutually selective solvent (Dimitev Formati) This work is a simple overview of the foundations and data process to build the new integrated oil and gas , note that the study of Dr. Hassan Zahrawi had included all the details of scientific and technological and detailed findings on the establishment of a refinery integrated methods fuel oil and this Maidor currently discussing in the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources with foreign companies, Chinese, Russian and Venezuelan and others to establish an integrated refinery in Deir al-Zour and developed in Homs.

Mohammed Hawa … young Syrian intellectual ambitious and cute Specimen, is expanding his work in the footsteps considerations of safety and the stability of both the worker and the institution.
Syrian educated young man, ambitious and quiet may constitute a form unique to those who run institutions and companies with a gradual and rational expanding, what distinguishes his activities is the social and moral role, which dominates in many cases, events on considerations of profitability and returns, which is characterized by other businesses.
He is Occupied with safety of workers and the safety of facilities and tools, he focuses his interests, and activities, and work in this field.
and Our guest today, Vice President of the Board of Directors of Arab Union for measurement and calibration. And founder and chairman of Syria Association for Occupational Safety . HAS, of the equipment and materials safety career owner.
Mr. Mohamed Hawa Welcome.

Hello to you always, and thank you for this introduction.

Ten years ago, you founded a national limited liability National Investment group , what areas of their work?

National Investment Group LLC, is a Syrian company founded in 2001 in Syria and the umbrella company of Petrolift Syria, and HAS materials and equipment in occupational safety and surveillance equipment and protection Company, and also has a group of laboratory measurements and calibration. The Group has a branch in the United Arab Emirates – Dubai.

We now want to talk about the group, and start from the Petrolift Syria company, why it was open in Syria? And what does push Mohammed Hawa for that?

Let me at the beginning present Petrolift Syria company to you ,it is the first inspection company adopted in Syria for the non Destroy tests (NDT), calibration, and examination of lifting equipments. It started work in 2001 in UAE and then moved to Damascus. The company is supported by some foreign expertise .Our entry into the market was the result of two factors .. 1st is the lack of inspection companies in Syria and also the lack of materials companies personal protect with universal specifications and Standards . The second is what we sensed from the encouraging laws and regulations that give opportunities for Syrian firms to participate and work in the Syrian market and compete with international companies.
And so it was that was in the past decade, the transfer of the work we began in Dubai with some of the trained and qualified national staff and foreign group has been established in Syria and we started working to the fullest.

You say that Petrolift is certified to do (NDT)check-ups, calibration, and examination of lifting equipment?

Yes, Petrolift Syria have been adopted by several international competent bodies, such as the American Academy of cranes (Crane Institute of America) and the Association of Engineers uploaded the British (Lifting Equipment Engraining Association) and includes “Petrolift Syria” specialized engineers levels (Level 2 + Level 3) and has contracts with a large number of oil companies and construction companies in and outside Syria.
The importance of Petrolift Syria company’s work field?

Importance of the work is highlighted by the importance of the(NDT) tests to detect defects that disrupt plants and equipments and hurt persons, especially in oil and gas sectors, which can ensure the safety and reliability of treatment for people, plant and equipment, here is to do NDT check-ups and discover defects that may stand out in the facilities and address them before the crash of facilities and a sudden stop can cause severe damage and is calculated at any time and this means a waste of time and money.
In a parallel context and as you know, the oil industry is facing innumerable challenges due to increased international demand for oil and gas, which has become increasingly an unprecedented in contrast, oil industry in various sectors require expansion of infrastructure to accommodate different productions. This requires a continuation in the development of infrastructure and develop the capacity of NDT tests of plants and equipments, as well as required international standards keep pace with new and follow-up training for qualified personnel for this area. All the above is at the core interests and areas of work Petrolift Syria.

you also founded a private company for materials and equipment safety and protection: HAS Company for materials and equipment in occupational safety and surveillance equipments and protection is also one of the group companies of the National Investment LLC, one of the first companies that have worked in the field of occupational safety in the Syrian Arab Republic and that was in 2001 and was ” HAS” the first companies specializing in the sale of surveillance and protection (SECURITY), materials and equipment safety.

Haas … HAS … Why was established in Syria? What is the cause for it? Is there any information about the Syrian market, which lacks much of its services or your concern for the safety of Syrian workers, or both ?

Of the most important characteristic of the company they are interested in the human element in the first degree It is in this spirit adopted strategies to secure materials and equipment so as to be in conformity with world specifications and standards and not to deal with materials that lack the minimum of any specification which are many in the local market, unfortunately, it has adopted the goal of rights and safety first Thus was the first company specialized in the sale of (SECURITY) tools and occupational safety equipments conforming to specifications and standards.

What about the sources of your equipments, and what is the source of your wide fame?

Materials, equipment, occupational safety and surveillance equipment and protection of , ” HAS” company acquired Fame and a strong presence in the market since taking off ten years ago, did not come from a vacuum but is a natural product in view of the fact that the ” HAS” agent of a group of major international companies leading in this area, I recall here the Companies:
Gunnebo – Gantner – Ceia – Axis-Dupont – Uvex – Cofra – BW – Sala

In an initiative that is the first of its kind in Syria, you founded Syria Association for Occupational Safety … Can you give us an idea of the Assembly and how it can benefit from the oil companies?

Syria Association for Occupational Safety is a professional forged and we launched in Damascus .. aimed to maintain the safety of workers and limit the access of injuries and accidents at work, Raising awareness of occupational safety, and raising the cultural awareness of occupational safety for all levels, and provide a safe working environment and appropriate, and keep pace with scientific progress in the safety of workers in all areas.
The Association is administratively and financially independent and its activities in territories of the Syrian Arab Republic include all included in the management of a number of managers of health and safety of oil companies, public and private workforce, has been declared Syria Association for Occupational Safety decision No. (2156) The date of 07/27/2009 from the Ministry of Social and Labour Affairs.

What are the main activities of the Association?

Among the activities of the society is by providing special courses on health and safety and we have a special magazine of the society and many of publications for the dissemination of this culture not only in the oil companies, but we do have experience of these companies that are considered a pioneer and the transfer of expertise to the workers in all sectors and even at the level of professional workers. We come now to the Arab Union of measurement and calibration … and congratulate you on your election to preside over the Regional Office ..Thank you, … already been licensed to operate in the Federation of the Syrian Arab Republic pursuant to Republican Decree No. (558) History (12/30/2009) organized relationship with the Syrian government under a contract agreement signed with the Syrian Ministry of Industry and authority of the President of the Council of Ministers resolution No. (498/1/30) Date (10/17/2010).

What is the importance and dimensions of the opening of a regional office in Damascus?

Arab Federation for Measurement and calibration is a regional organization belonging to the Economic Unity Council emanating from the Arab League and includes many of the companies testing and calibration laboratories, the Arab public and private sectors are interested in cooperation and coordination between Arab countries in these areas to promote bilateral trade between Arab countries and constituting a bloc of Arab similar for clusters in Europe WELMAC and Africa AFROMATE. the establishment of the regional office of the Union in Damascus is established to cover his (Iraq – Palestine – Jordan – Syria – Lebanon).

Mr. Mohammed, if you were revert within one orbit but in various areas?

Well, … We adopted a work in the field of safety in general .. HAS also as we mentioned is working in the field of personal safety for individuals and the Department of security is a security for the facility, and the association aims to maintain the safety of workers and limit the access of injuries and accidents at work. Company Petrolift for examination is ultimately safety equipment of any error and to prevent mishaps or reduce the likelihood of their occurrence. Which is among the goals of the Arab Union for measurement and calibration.

What are your future plans in the fields of your interests?

On our agenda the next establishment and development of private laboratory calibrations to be or to form a special section for the calibration of medical devices, laboratory, and point out here that we are in cooperation with the Arab League and the Ministry of Health, under the auspices of the Minister of Health intend to establish the Second Arab Conference for the measurements of medical in April next April under the slogan “the importance of calibration in ensure the quality measurement of medical devices “, and we expect that the conference is a key tributary to educate everyone of the importance of the subject of calibration of medical devices to get the correct results in hospitals and laboratories.

A final word ..
INA Company has succeeded to increase production of the Syrian oil and gas during its important achievements of oil and gas discoveries…. How Inna began work in Syria and what are the stages of advancement of work and access to the current situation?.
- Historically, the Croatian company INA started its activities in the Syrian market is actually from 1965 to provide technical training for staff in the area of the Syrian deep drilling. And then 1975 through a contract for the excavator with a full technical crew for the drilling of deep wells in areas difficult to dig at that time.
Current presence of the INA in Syria is through the Hayan contract , which took place on 3/30/1998 and became effective from 15/8/1998. Then Aphamia contract, which took place on 1/17/2004 and became effective as of 26/6/2004 .

- The Ministry of Oil announced for new areas for prospecting and exploration on land and announced plans to other areas in the Syrian territorial waters in the Mediterranean … Do you in the company Inna intend to participate these areas and expand your business in Syria from which the successes achieved in this area.
Yes .. INA is very interested in this particular exploration in the territorial waters in the future.

- What are the prospects for the company INA in Syria? What are the situation in Aphamia Block?
INA now through Hayan Petroleum Company – joint venture – is carrying out operations of the production of oil and gas fields discovered from 6, and at the same time complement its developmental assets.
As for the Aphamia contract, the company is still doing business as explorative terms of the contract and ending a period of exploration in 2012.

- The gas plant Hayan planned for completion soon as a new achievement for the company invested in INA in Syria. What are the additions that would be achieved by this plant to Syria and the company after finishing it.

Hayan Gas Plant is a vital project for the oil industry in Syria and the Syrian economy and INA is very proud of this achievement, which was completed successfully and in a real-time planned assets.
- Currently Production and processing is carrying out naturally and which is to provide the Syrian market in the following amounts per day:
- – Gas: 2.7 million cubic meters, and will increase production to 4 million cubic meters soon.
- – Light oil: 1800 cubic meters, and production will rise to 2200 cubic meters soon.
- (LPG) up to 150 cubic meters.

- How do you see the investment environment in the oil and gas in Syria.

A good investment environment and cooperation existing between the parties in the right way, and we always believe in the necessity of developing relations continuously.

- Finally, we want you to give us an idea of your CV and your work with a private company INA that scored the success of this company as your presence at the head of this company in Syria.
I am personally very proud of, as a Syrian citizen, and general manager of the branch of the company (INA) and the joint venture company (Hayan) since the beginning of the activities of INA in Syria and a record of successful achievements during the past period, which lasted 13 years until now.

Interview with Mr. Mahdi Sajjad, General Manager of Gulfsands Petroleum Syria Limited.

Q1: How did Gulfsands Petroleum start operating in Syria, and what are the stages it has been through up to the current situation?
Our operations in Syria started in 2005 when Devon Energy assigned its shares to Gulfsands Petroleum and Gulfsands became the operating company.

Various technical studies and seismic surveys were conducted before drilling which was finally commenced in the beginning of 2006.

During 2006 and early 2007, two wells were drilled, and by the end of June and early July 2007 drilling was commenced at Khurbet East (KHE 1 – well) which was Gulfsands first commercial discovery, and after drilling two appraisal wells thereafter, Gulfsands approached the Syrian Government to approve Khurbet East and consider it as a Commercial Discovery that can be developed in January 2008.

Gulfsands obtained Government approval in early February 2008 and concluded an agreement with the Syrian Petroleum Company to establish Early Production Facility (EPF) in April 2008.
The Syrian Petroleum Company completed work at EPF within three and half months which is a record time. On 21 July 2008 Gulfsands started production from Khurbet East with capacity of 10,000 bopd.

During EPF development and in early 2009 Gulfsands drilled other development wells which enabled Gulfsands to study and evaluate the estimated oil reserves of this new discovered field, and increase production up to 11,000-12,000 bopd.

After one year of production, drilling operations, and completion of seismic studies, production capacity of EPF was increased to 18,000 bopd, as other development wells were linked to this facility and Gulfsands achieved production of more than 18,000 bopd.

In the second half of 2009, Gulfsands Petroleum drilled an exploration well in Yousfieh, which led to drilling two more appraisal wells, and in early 2010 a second request was sent to the Syrian Petroleum Company and the General Petroleum Company to approve the new Commercial Discovery. EPF Substation was established with a capacity of 3000 bopd, and production was commenced from Yousfieh field in mid 2010.

In 2010, and after obtaining the approval of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the General Petroleum Corporation, and with the remarkable support of the Syrian Petroleum Company, Gulfsands Petroleum Syria Ltd in cooperation with Dijla Petroleum Company implemented pipeline project with length of 25 km to pump produced oil to Tel Adas station instead of shipping it by trucks in order to avoid any environment damage and road accidents. The pipeline was operated on 3 October 2010 with capacity of 25,000 bopd noting that DPC current production is around 21,000 bopd.

And recently, DPC signed a contract with SAIPEM –Italy to establish Central Production Facility (CPF) as we intend to increase production up to 30,000 bopd by the fourth quarter of year 2012.

Q2: The Ministry of Petroleum has announced new onshore blocks for development and exploration, and intends to announce other offshore blocks in the Mediterranean.. Does Gulfsands intend to participate in new areas and expand its business in Syria depending on its successful achievements in this domain?
Since we believe in the promising investment in the Syrian oil, we recently signed a partnership agreement with ENI and submitted two offers to explore the announced onshore blocks depending on studies of primary data provided for these two areas, and we believe that we have proposed encouraging and competitive offers to the concerned parties in Syria.

We hope that our offers will be evaluated as soon as possible, and that the evaluators would take into consideration the importance entry of such a big company like ENI for the first time to the Syrian markets.
Also, we are interested in offshore areas as Gulfsands intends to actively invest in this new area in Syria.

Q3: what are the future plans of Gulfsands in Syria?
As I previously mentioned, we, in Gulfsands Petroleum intend to increase production to 30,000 bopd, and expand our business and investments in Syria as well as we always endeavor to search for other investing opportunities.

Also we will continue our programs and training plans that we have already started earlier to support and develop our Technical teams and local staff working in Oil and Gas industry. However, we will maintain implementing sustainable development of local communities by funding and supporting activities of charity and civil Societies particularly in Block 26 in Al Hassakah where Gulfsands in cooperation with Al- Hassakah Governorate will provide Computer technology training centers inside local schools in adjacent areas of our Fields.

What I would like to clarify here is, there’s a mutual and fruitful cooperation between the Syrian Government and Gulfsands Petroleum, and at the end of the day these efforts will benefit the interest of both parties, because the success of «Gulfsands» will be a success of the country in which it operates.
In addition to Gulfsands Petroleum plans to continue exploring and developing its expanded investments and business in the Middle East practically in Iraq, Tunisia, and the Gulf of Mexico.

Q4: How do you read the Investment Environment in Syria’s Oil and Gas?
The economic situation in Syria is going in the right direction, and there is effective implementation of important economic programs, as well as there are lots of development areas in Syria although of the very few foreign investment, whereas it should be the contrary, in the sense that volume of Foreign investments can be huge, and I think that just few decisions can guarantee attracting investments from abroad by a larger percentage ,the thing which will help to attract the largest of range of foreign investments.

Generally speaking, I believe there are promising economic future opportunities in Syria and this is what seems clear from the active movement currently taking place in all fields.

Q5: Finally, we want You to give us an idea of your resume and your work with Gulfsands, specially that successful accomplishments were achieved with You being as a General Manager..
Currently, I am Executive Director and President of Gulfsands Petroleum Plc, a Listed company in London Stock Exchange (AIM), and General Manager of Gulfsands Petroleum Syria Limited. I completed my Education in the United Kingdom, and worked from 1981–1988 with a consortium of British companies marketing products and engineering services in the Middle East and Africa. In 1988, I joined International Development Corporation in Dubai as a Senior Executive and later as Managing Director whilst also serving during the same period through to 1995 as a Director of Oil & Minerals Development Corporation. I had also established, as a founder, shareholder and financier, a number of companies with interests in the Middle East in different industry sectors but with particular emphasis on the energy and mining sectors. In 1998 I joined Gulfsands Petroleum as a founder and Executive Director.

Ayman Asfari Petrofac Group Chief Executive briefed the company activities and its future horizons in a special interview with Syria-oil web site

Implementation where it executed more than one project in Syria… What are the reason of success?

This success is due to the presence of technical staff and management are excellent and highly qualified in addition that our company Petrofac doesn’t submit to any project, but after studying a comprehensive study of all aspects of professional, technical and time. Our company along with the establishment of a specialized gas plants and we have a long experience of such acts have been implemented a lot of similar actions around the world and managed by the technically and ahead of the allotted time and the duration of Streptococcus always.

-What do you think of the investment climate in the oil and gas in Syria and whether the current environment suitable for investment in this area according to your opinion.

Syria has been able in recent years to attract foreign investment as a result of amending some legislations and regulations, simplify procedures, in addition to that Syria has a new gas discoveries may be the beginning of the establishment of Petro-chemical industries. I believe that the refining industry that was at the level of development of existing refineries or the establishment of new refineries need to attract foreign investment and Petrofac operates refineries in the area. It is expected that there will be new investments in Syria if the agreement with Iraq on the transfer of oil and gas in Iraq via Syria to the Mediterranean Sea because of the unique geographical location which enjoys Syria.

Petrofac new horizeens in Syria .. Are there any new projects with the Syrian government or with companies operating in Syria.

Currently there are no large projects we intend to do to we got on a small project for the company in common with the DPC Gulfsands on a draft of the collection and treatment projects and wait for the transport of oil from Iraq and we will work on the preparation of preliminary studies for the refineries to study the possibility of contributing in this area.

– Does Petrofac study about prospecting and exploration?

Petrofac does not intend to go about prospecting and exploration, but the company is able to do development work we have invested in the development of several oil fields and discovered a list of where we have the engineering, construction and drilling.

Asfari and Petrofac in brief:

It is noteworthy that Ayman Asfari is a Syrian businessman living in London, served as Executive Director of the company Petrofac with an asset value of $ 3.5 billion.
He Launched his company when he moved to London in 1991, after he had been working in the field of construction in Amman, entered into a partnership with Petrofac) U.S. at that time , seven years later became the sole owner of this company.

In his reply on the question about future plans for Shell Syria Henley said “My work as a Country Chair for Shell Syria is to continue the good work that has been done before and to maintain the AFPC’s excellent performance in both Production and Safety”. “In addition to that,” he added “we look forward to support the growth of Shell in Syria through continuous cooperation with our Syrian partners. ”

Henley stressed that Shell is one of the biggest international investors in Syria in the Oil & Gas Industry and through the years we performed with integrity and respect to our partners, to our staff and with commitment to our meet our promises. Through the years, we built a strong relationship with the Syrian Government, something that we value tremendously as we continue to support our joint venture: Al-Furat Petroleum Company and to grow Shell business in Syria.

Regarding the update on exploration Blocks 13 and 15 and the new blocks that were announced by Oil Ministry is there any interest for Shell to bid? Syria Shell Manger said ” In Blocks 13 & 15 we committed to drill four exploration wells. We drilled two wells and we are waiting for the results to be evaluated. The other two exploration wells are at the planning stage with work on the first of these expected to commence shortly. So this exploration is on going and it’s too early to speculate about results.”

“We are also actively studying other exploration opportunities, such as the eight new onshore exploration blocks, which were recently announced by the Oil Ministry for the next bid round”, he added.

On regard to his Feedback on how does he find the investment environment here in Syria Henley said ” I’m here only for short time, but my understanding which was built up through the discussions that I’ve had so far is that this is a very good place to do business in that we and other oil company are treated fairly by the ministry and other government agencies. Contracts and other agreements are honored and that is very important in a good business environment. Shell has a very good position in Syria we have big company AFPC and we need to build on that”

“We are proud of what we achieved through our presence for 25 years in Syria, the knowledge we brought in and transfer of technology at AFPC, the high business standards, the international safety procedures, this is all recognized at AFPC and appreciated by the Syria Government as well as our employees in AFPC and SSPD. ” he added

“I’m looking for a fruitful cooperation in order to develop our business in Syria; Syria has strategic location and great history, which enable it to play a major role in the trade industry and transportation – as I drove to Palmyra recently I was shown one of the camel caravan rest points on the old Silk Road. Centuries after the Silk Road was established, I do see Syria’s potential as a transit route for oil and gas which I’m sure will be realized with the determination of the Syrian Government and the national human capital who plays a great role in the development process. ” he said

He went on “What I’ve also seen and am very proud of is Shell in Syria’s commitment to social performance and social development initiatives, for example the Intelaqqah Program. Its one of our biggest achievements – I think almost 600 young people have passed through our entrepreneurial skills development courses. There is also a lot of work being done in safety campaigns too – for example more than 60,000 children in the area of our operations have been briefed on road safety and environment issues. That to me is a very good thing because it reduces the risk of accidents – not only involving our vehicles but all vehicles on the road. Its part of our responsibility as a good corporate citizen.”

In regard to CNPC deal with Shell Henley highlighted that “As you know, Shell has been present in Syria since the 1940s and been a shareholder in AFPC for some 25 years. Since 2005 CNPC also had an interest in AFPC through its 50% ownership of Himalaya Energy Syria BV.
He said “Recently, Shell and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) have signed an agreement to transfer 35% of Shell’s interest in Syria Shell Petroleum Development (SSPD) to China National Petroleum Corporation, which enables CNPC to more actively participate in developing AFPC and to be represented at AFPC board. This is part of the global cooperation between Shell and CNPC which has also yielded separate deals in Australia, Qatar and China itself) “.
He added “CNPC has been actively investing in the Syrian upstream market in recent years through Kawkab and, like Shell are seeking to invest and grow their business. This makes CNPC an ideal partner for Shell in Syria”

He stressed that Shell has had several meetings with our Syrian partners before and after the agreement with CNPC was signed. We have not only explained to them the benefits of the deal but also reiterated Shell’s continuing commitment to bring value to AFPC through the deployment of Shell technology and business processes as well as the deployment of Shell Expert staff into AFPC.

In summary, Henley added that he is very much looking forward to his assignment in Syria – a country that he has hoped to live and work in since a short visit many years ago. He is impressed by today’s business environment and the excellent cooperation with the Oil Ministry, GPC and other government agencies. His first priority will be continue Shell’s support to the outstanding performance of AFPC and their continued delivery against production, safety and commitments. He hopes that this will provide a platform to grow Shell’s business in Syria through continuing exploration and through the pursuit of other business opportunities with the Syrian Government.

Henley gave a Background on his personal life as he said :

I have been working for Shell for 27 Years, and even though I’m British I have not worked in England. Shell gave me the opportunity to move to many locations such as Netherlands, Russia, Scotland, Brunei, Malaysia, Oman and most recently in Nigeria. I visited Syria in 1998 as part of a sharing best practices programme between Oman and Syria. During that visit I was very impressed with the living and working environment in Damascus and always hoped to return so I was delighted with the opportunity to take up the role of Shell Country Chair in Syria.

My background is engineering and I have previously worked in technical functions, project management, oil & gas field development and corporate planning.

I’m here with my wife and two sons and they are enjoying Syria.

About this Exhibition, its activities and its importance on the local , regional and international levels .. Syria –oil interviewed Nawar Sukar Chief of Allied Expo Board who spoke as usual, frankly and transparently:

Q: SYROIL Exhibition is one of the most important fair in the region.. Could you please give us a comprehensive idea about it since its start till now?

R: Preparations are under way to launch the exhibition of SYROIL 2010 as usually to commensurate with the importance of this event and in line with the number of participating companies and their quality and hardly ..the exhibition will be accompanied by a symposium included 44 lectures by technicians and specialists from the state oil companies and joint ventures, oil service companies and companies Operating in Syria participating in the exhibition cover most of the issues and topics related to the areas of oil and gas in the presence of different and the participation of all actors of all companies and fields of it, which makes the scene of the seminars for discussion, dialogue and exchange of views among the participants, technicians and audience interaction in order to achieve constructive and fruitful Seminars.. There will be also a press briefing by Minister of Oil following the opening of the exhibition who will talk about many aspects of the oil and gas in addition to answering questions from journalists with regard to issues and various themes of oil and gas. And aides will attend the Minister of Oil and General Managers of the oil companies, all the exhibition since its inception and throughout the four days which will allow direct communication between the exhibitors and stakeholders in this sector.

Q: a selection of international oil companies and a large number of companies interested in oil and gas sector in Syria from around the world participate in the exhibition… What are the most important benefits and gains achieved by the participating companies, especially in light of the beginning of the end of the financial crisis and global economic?.
Answer: the event will be a lot of benefits by being the concourse of all oil and gas activities to achieve the significant interaction between the participants in addition to the experience gained through contact with exhibitors and visitors who go to the exhibition qualitative … Other interest, as reflected by highlighting the most important and the latest technologies in the world of oil, gas and refining industry, where companies offer their productions in the presence of visitors and participants who, in turn, learn about these technologies and access to the fields of production and work sites.
The importance of the current session of SYROIL exhibition specifically in light of the beginning of the end of the financial crisis and global economic is driven many Arab and international companies to explore investment opportunities offered by the energy sector in Syria, and the return of those companies to invest in the real economy and not the economy based on speculation.
Q: Syria’s oil policy has seen significant developments in terms of rearranging the form of dealing with foreign companies and give better investment conditions by introducing new sites for exploration and drilling … How will the exhibition highlight these developments and thus contribute to attracting investments in the oil and gas sector?.
Answer: oil and gas sector is one of economic sector more attractive for investment to achieve positive results in most cases, and the seminars will be held in the framework of the show will present the different areas of investment in Syria.
SYROIL exhibition coincides at its current session with the growing global demand for energy in general and Syria in particular, in addition to the growing interest of international oil companies to explore something to offer local and regional market arising from the promising investment opportunities in this vital area.
SYROIL exhibition is in a period of accelerating the pace of economic openness in Syria, with the Syrian government was keen on bringing in considerable foreign investments, and perseverance to put up large tracts of exploration areas across the country on land and sea, and coincided with a bunch of laws, regulations and legislation as a catalyst for the establishment of huge investments and safe and high rents.
In light of all, it is expected that Syrian oil industry concerned to promote SYROIL exhibition to attract more international oil companies, including supporting the ambitious plans of the Syrian government, which recently launched seven new fields of development and investment.
Q: What are the most important issues that characterize the functioning of SYROIL 2010 on previous exhibitions? Are you as the exhibition management thinking of converting it into an international conference in the field of oil and gas and refining industry, especially with the scarcity of such conferences in the Syrian arena?.
Answer: Firstly SYROIL exhibition is the only exhibition approved by the International Union of Exhibitions view of the commitment to the norms required for the exhibition by the Union and there is an increase in the number of participating companies to hit this session in the 260 companies which has necessitated opening a new hall at the exhibition / S1 / .. The characteristic of this session of the exhibition is also represented by controlling the process of registration of visitors careful to limit the number of visitors and their specialties as there will be improvement in the quality of services commensurate with the level of the exhibition which will be present during the show’s feed in addition to the restoration of service facilities and other addition will participate in the opening of the exhibition at its current session Yemeni Minister of Oil and Minerals, and the oil ministry in the United Arab Emirates and the Secretary-General of the Organization of OAPEC and Chief Executive Officer and Director-General of the Arab Company for Petroleum Investments APICORP.

Oil Prices with its movements rise and down became nowadays the main interest not for those who are interested in oil sector but for all people due to its influence on many areas in life by its wide use in oil derivatives : in housing, transportation ,industry, electricity, agriculture, etc.
In order to have logical and convincing answers for legitimate questions on the truth of oil markets situation we must address the factors of oil price swings and changes. Perhaps one of the most

influential in the great changes during the current year and the past two years, is the geopolitical and security situation prevailing in the Middle East and especially the Arabian Gulf region due to wars and unrest existing military. And joining it is speculation and betting that the price of global stock exchanges by experts in order to profit on the one hand and recording the positions of economic and political, on the other. And this remains the reference for the transformation of oil prices is supply and demand, which covered the above-mentioned factors had a limited role in this period that we are talking about. Because as we know that OPEC has increased production and reduced, but this did not reflect a significant impact on prices.

There is no doubt that there are several other factors, sometimes in so doing receive the price of oil, including oil reserves of the commercial oil companies and the U.S. strategic oil reserves and the limited quantities of oil derivatives is the limited number of refineries in the world, a movement to influence share prices with the prices of crude oil.

The question now is whether the oil price rises will continue in this period, after flying to around 150 dollars a barrel and dropped quickly to 32 dollars a barrel?
There will be no price of crude oil by the end of this year. And is the current rises in oil prices is a reflection of real activity and global trade association in the field of the global financial crisis and economic rotation of the wheel.

The arrival of the price of crude oil up to 60 dollars a barrel, the highest since the beginning of this year represents an increase of 80% since last January and brings the price of crude oil while the balance of supply and demand around the world. However, the geopolitical factors are still present in the arena and play a role in moderation now and the impact of rapid economic growth of China and India as well, there is the result of the impact of exchange rate depreciation of the dollar globally.

Difficult to forecast that oil prices will rise automatically, without an improvement in the performance of the global economy and the public often do not expect oil prices to increase the rate of 70 dollars by the end of this year without an increase in global demand for oil, or reduce the oil-producing countries, especially the production of Organization ‘OPEC’.

The current oil price is reasonable, to some extent has been accepted by the logic of the circumstances of economic and financial world. If we refer to the carefully considered the price of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries during the years 2000 – 2002 it was estimated at 35 dollars a barrel on the basis that it achieves a balance between producer and consumer, and if we have a comprehensive economic accounts after 7-8 years, we will reach almost to the current price.

By Dr. Eng: Ahmed Moalla
Chairman of the Board of al-Kawkab oil Company

The management is by definition is the rational use of available means.
Thus, oil reservoirs management is a rational and optimal use of the available means to the investment based on these reservoirs in order to maximize the desired benefits of the oil reservoir

through the use of available sources or means, (human beings by taking advantage of their knowledge, expertise, technologies ,digest, and good finance) in order to increase the productivity indicators of the oil reservoir and to increase revenues , to the greatest possible extent and to reduce costs as much as possible.
There are two basic options for technicians and engineers responsible for investment of oil reservoirs:
The first is to let things happen and the second is to make things happen.

And, of course, is the second option is to make any issues planned, which aims to increase the yield of oil to the greatest extent is happening and here comes the role of hard work, any role the optimal management of oil reservoirs based on the following principles and foundations, which are a guide and directions to the investment policies and strategies of oil reservoirs:
1. Energy use of the reservoir as the best.
2. The use of strategies and clear policies for the development of oil reserves since the beginning.
3. Collection of data necessary to assist in the understanding of the reservoir of oil in terms of its geological and Alkhoznip mechanism and knowledge of his work and that access to this data regularly and systematically in a timely manner.
4. The use of appropriate technologies and knowledge that lead to increase production and improve yields and raise the productive classes.
5. Act in accordance with the wording of the group and cooperation among all branches of industry, mining and oil exploitation (geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, drilling, production ….) To the intersection of experience and knowledge of representatives of these branches to serve the main objective, which is optimal management of the oil reservoir and access to the largest oil yield possible.
Therefore, the main objective for the management of oil reservoirs is the best investment of the stock of oil and increasing returns, we must follow the following steps:
1. Definition and identification of reservoirs (tanks) in a specific field in terms of physical and geological characteristics, chemical and physical movement of fluids in porous center and payment mechanisms by which oil is produced.
2. Trace the history of the oil reservoir performance and past performance to predict the future.
3. Determine the optimum network of wells, to the inclusion of the entire area of the field production and ensure that no overlap of the country and the withdrawal of the wells so as to avoid drilling unnecessary.
4. Identify and improve the designs of wells and surface facilities to make them invest in the best way.
5. A program of monitoring and control of all wells Odaaml and indicators of productivity, in particular, and the reservoir in general, and to intervene when necessary in a timely manner.
6. Conduct studies Stores integrated and updated periodically, taking into account new data available through the drilling of new wells and monitor the behavior and performance of the old wells, draw conclusions and lessons learned through the behavior and performance.
7. Ways to improve the use of Improved Oil Recovery and Enhanced Oil Recovery after stores integrated studies on the basis of which can be chosen method or methods appropriate to the circumstances of the various reservoir (geology, store mechanism of action … ..)
Finally.
The end of an era of easy oil production, which has become the world now speak of oil and the arrival of the global production peak and the start of little or declining rates of production from some of the giant fields around the world and talk about the difficulty of the discovery of new giant fields will lead to an increase in reserves, as the large and compensate for the shortfall in production and the increasing demand for energy in many countries of the world has increased the importance of managing oil reservoirs and create unprecedented challenges as the need to strengthen the revenues of oil and increase the production of such large quantities of the remaining reserve in the depositions of all the geological characteristics of the different calls for better management of the reservoirs of oil, as we said, the Department of the former aims to maximize benefits and increase the yield of oil to the greatest extent possible.
